Pre-Doctor of Physical Therapy Program

A Pathway to Take Your Career to the Next Level

St. Andrews University Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a concentration in Pre-Doctor of Physical Therapy, is a faculty-designed program for students who plan to pursue graduate-level work in physical therapy. The degree offers three interdisciplinary concentrations in the life sciences, physical sciences, and healthcare administration with courses informed by the 1) American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), 2) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), and 3) Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) as pre-requisites required or desired for students entering a graduate DPT program. In addition, the degree offers a capstone research project which includes 15–20 volunteer hours in a clinical setting. Students work closely with faculty advisors to choose electives, as well as campus and community activities, that meet their interests, round out their education in a liberal arts setting, and build a strong resume to present to graduate schools offering a DPT program. One feature of the program is that it enables students to develop healthcare leadership and management skills essential to advancement in the Physical Therapy profession.
