Thank you for considering St. Andrews about the possible donation of your horse. We really appreciate your considering our program. The horses we accept as donations stay with us for many years and we want to make sure that we are the right fit for them and they are the right fit for us.
Please send us a current video of the horse performing. A link to a YouTube video is fine or you can mail a disc to the Equestrian Center. Email submissions to [email protected]
When contacting us please have answers to the following questions:
At St. Andrews we feed timothy hay from New York state and offer an assortment of grains including: Purina Equine Senior, Purina Strategy, Triple Crown Complete, and Nutrena Safe Choice Special Care. Additionally all of our horses receive a beet pulp mash each day.
If it appears that your horse would do well with us, then we require that he come for a trial period.
If he is fit, then the trial period is for three weeks. If he has not been worked consistently, then the trial period may be longer depending on his level of fitness. During the trial period, he lives in our quarantine barn for two weeks and is worked by the staff member assigned to him. We do have quarantine turn out areas, also. If all is going well, we will assign an appropriate student to ride him toward the end of the trial period with “his” staff member instructing. During the trial period he will be examined by our veterinarian in order to make sure that we are able to handle any medical issues he may have. At the end of the trial period, he is either accepted into the program and all the donation paperwork is finalized or he returns home to you.
Our horses receive a tremendous amount of attention and love from the students and from our staff. Each one is very special to us. They are truly the teachers for our students. Thank you again for considering St. Andrews.
