Inter-Library Loan (ILL)

Inter-library Loan (ILL) services are provided (free) to meet the information needs of St. Andrews students, faculty, and staff. This cooperative service among libraries enables all faculty, staff, and students to get books, articles, videos, and other materials which we do not own or have access to.

Types of Resources Available Through ILL
  • Print Books (excluding textbooks since libraries do not typically loan them)
  • Ebooks – Chapters can be scanned and sent via email.
  • Articles
  • DVDs

Other resources such as dissertations, theses, videos, and microfilm may also be ordered, but may have some special limitations. All due dates and restrictions placed by the lending library must be adhered to. Renewals are usually available. Most article requests can be fulfilled within 2 business days while books can take up to 3 weeks.

Submitting Requests

Submit requests directly through WorldCat. If you have any questions, contact Seth Allen by email, phone (277-5023) or stop by in person.

Cost

Currently there is no cost to order and receive books and articles.

Communication

Check your campus email for all communication about your request. Articles will be emailed as attachments to your campus email address.

Eligibility

Service is only provided to current St. Andrews students, faculty, and staff. Other patrons should contact their educational institutions or public library.
