Weather Alert 3/18 – Updated

The timeline for the severe weather impact has moved up to 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

All classes, activities, and athletics at and after 11:00 a.m. are canceled today, March 18th, 2021. 

Piper’s Café will close at 12:00 p.m.

Faculty and Staff who live a considerable distance from campus may begin departing at 11:00 a.m.

Faculty and Staff who live in Laurinburg and the immediate surrounding area may begin departing at 11:30 a.m., after ensuring all students are aware of the forecasted severe weather and how to prepare safely.

Lunch at the main dining hall in Belk will end at 12:00 p.m. 

Dinner and the late meal will not be served. Students are highly encouraged to attend lunch early to build dinner boxes, which includes sandwiches, trail mix, drinks, fruit, and desert, during lunch to have dinner in their residence halls. 

Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to pay close attention to their emails for up-to-date information regarding tomorrow’s weather. In the event of severe weather, including hail, strong winds, and tornados, please stay indoors and away from any windows, such as a hallway or the bathroom, and move to the lowest level possible in the building. Make sure your electronics are charged and have a flashlight available in the event of a power outage. Candles are NOT permitted on-campus.

Have a plan in place ahead of time. Know where you will go in the event of a tornado, damaging winds, or hail.

We are currently monitoring the severe weather forecasted for tomorrow afternoon, March 18th between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

All classes, activities, and athletics at and after 12:30 p.m. are canceled tomorrow, March 18th, 2021. Piper’s Café will close at 12:30 p.m.

Lunch at the main dining hall in Belk will be extended until 2:00 p.m. The dining hall will close for the day at 2:00 p.m. Dinner and the late meal will not be served.
