Elects Ash Walker, DHSc., MA, ACSM-RCEP, FAACVPR 2022-2023 President
Chicago, Ill.—The American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) is pleased to announce its newly elected president of the Board of Directors, Ash Walker, DHSc., MA, ACSM-CEP, FAACVPR. Dr. Walker assumed the role from immediate past-president Amy Knight, PhD, ABPP at the 37th AACVPR Annual Meeting, on Friday, September 23 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Board of Directors is the governing body for AACVPR and is responsible for developing the organization’s strategic plan and making fiscal and policy decisions
that align AACVPR activities with its mission and vision and result in significant benefit to its members.
Dr. Walker is an Assistant Professor of Sports Performance, Health, and Fitness and Department Chair of Sport Studies at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, North Carolina. He is a member and past president of the North Carolina Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Association, an affiliate society of AACVPR, and served on the AACVPR Membership and Affiliate Relations Committee. Dr. Walker was first nominated to the Board of Directors in 2015 and returned in 2019 to serve as Treasurer before receiving nomination to the President-Elect position.

He will lead our association with boldness and creativity.”
Founded in 1985, AACVPR is dedicated to its mission of reducing morbidity, mortality and disability from cardiovascular and pulmonary disease through education, prevention, rehabilitation, research, and disease management. Central to the core mission is improvement in quality of life for patients and their families.
