We receive assistance from local clergy to provide spiritual guidance and support to students and other members of the campus community. Small group Bible study and several worship services occur throughout the semester on campus. Assistance is available to students of all faiths who seek places of worship in the area. Students, faculty and staff may participate in various community service projects at faith-related organizations. There are many opportunities available for students who want to participate in service-learning as a part of their courses, as volunteers at local nonprofit organizations, and as members of domestic and international Alternative Spring Break Service trips.
The annual Martin Luther King Day of Service offers a one day opportunity for all students, faculty, and staff to volunteer in the community and on campus. Classes and team practices are canceled that day so that everyone can participate. After volunteering, participants reflect on their experiences. Lunch is provided. We hope to have an ever-increasing number of members of our campus community to devote their time to the Day of Service.
Alternative Fall Break and Spring Break trips provide an opportunity for students to further serve different regions of the country and the world. Past locations have included trips regionally to Atlanta, Georgia as well as internationally to the Dominican Republic.
Twice per semester, we host a Blood Drives for students, faculty, and staff in addition to the Laurinburg community. All are welcome to sign up and schedule their appointments in advance online.
