Hundreds of Alumni descended on campus Friday for Alumni Weekend. The weekend began with the Alumni Dinner where Abe VanWingerden '91 was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award and Dr. Edna Ann Loftus was recognized as the first female recipient of the Distinguished Merit Award. The class of 1967 also presented SAU a check for over $50,000. Following was the Senior Art Show where our students were featured in the Vardell Gallery. Saturday began with several breakfasts around campus and the 47th Annual Laurinburg Confederation Softball Tournament. Milestone class reunions included 1967, 1977, and 1992. In honor of Earth Day, a March for Science commenced at the DeTamble Library and ended at the Wall (which was freshley painted by alumni Adam Breakey '94. After lunch, the Recycle Regatta was resurrected and homemade boats raced across the lake from Buttercup Beach. (Check out videos on our facebook pages.) Other events included: The Boys Next Door production, Science Homecoming, Alumni Soccer Game & Reunion, Travel Reunion with Dr. Neal Bushoven, Alumni Writers' Forum, an informal Pipe Band Concert and an Alumni Party.
