Biology (B.A. or B.S.)

Our World is Built on Biology

Understanding biology can be a powerful tool to building technologies around it that improve our lives.

To make sure our students get an education that is tailored to their unique vision and individual goals, we offer two biology bachelor’s degree programs to choose from – the B.S. degree and B.A. degree.

  • The B.S. program covers additional sciences as part of the curriculum and is ideal for students seeking admission to a veterinary program or graduate study in biology.
  • The B.A. program requires fewer total science credits and is a great option for students interested in careers in wildlife management, environmental management or teaching biology.

Passion. Dedication. Equine.

Students may also choose to pursue two other specializations within the biology program – Equine Science and Biomedical Science. Both Specializations offer a B.S. and B.A. degree program with varying science requirements.

“The science department is a family, opening doors to opportunities you never imagined, all while working from the comfort of the most unique laboratory set up.”

NC Science Olympiad

The national Science Olympiad began at St. Andrews in 1974. Over 200 middle school students come to campus for rigorous academic hands-on competitions in biology, earth science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, engineering and technology. Assisting with this fun competition gives St. Andrews students the opportunity to gain experience and build their resumé. Held every March.
