To protect your personal information, the IT Department at St. Andrews University will be implementing strong multifactor authentication (MFA) to all student and staff email accounts. The use of MFA will help secure accounts against unwanted access. You must configure your MFA options no later than December 31st, 2021, to prevent an account lockout.
You have several options to choose from when configuring MFA. Options include a code sent as an SMS, an automated phone call from Microsoft, or a code sent to your personal email address. It is required that you choose at least 2 authentication options.
The IT Department highly recommends you utilize the Microsoft Authenticator app, available for Android and iOS devices. It can be found in the App Store or Play Store. Authenticator will allow you to leverage additional security features such as Touch ID, facial recognition or other configured biometric signatures to access your account. The Authenticator App also contains a rotating, random 6-digit token that can be used as your code to sign into Office 365.
Changed your phone number?
If you changed the phone number associated with your authentication method, you will need to visit the IT Department to have the number changed. It is highly recommended that you see the IT Department before changing your number, to adjust settings accordingly and prevent account lockout. Please see the IT Department for more information.
Lost access to your personal email?
If you no longer have access to the personal email associated with your authentication method, you will need to supply an alternate, non-SAU email account (such as a Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail). Please see the IT Department for more information.
