Elizabeth Hernandez

A native of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth is a 2000 graduate of Belmont Abbey College. She first came to St. Andrews as the Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach in August of 2000. Elizabeth holds a B.A. in English, an M.A. in English Education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, and an Ed.S. as well as an Ed.D. from Wingate University.

As undergrad, Elizabeth was a four year starter on the Women’s Soccer team at Belmont Abbey. Her team reached the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament in 1998 and ’99. They also captured both the regular season and conference tournament titles in both years. Elizabeth served as captain of her team her senior year. At St. Andrews, Elizabeth also serves as the Faculty Athletics Representative for the Athletics Department.

During her time at St. Andrews, Elizabeth as worked as an Admissions Counselor, Assistant Coach, Head Coach, Associate Athletic Director, and the Director of the Center for Academic Success. She has been a member of the Writing Faculty since 2003 and also serves as the Title IX Coordinator for the University.

Elizabeth enjoys working with a diverse student body and values the opportunity to make in impact in the lives of the students at St. Andrews. She strives to engage students and build community in the residence halls and greater campus community.

Her husband, Stevan, is the Head Coach for Men’s Soccer. Their son, Jackson, was born November 2, 2008, and thanks to his birth parents, they became a forever family on November 4, 2008. Elizabeth, Stevan and Jackson reside in Laurinburg, NC with their dog, Humphrey.

Mary Cross
Director of Residence Life 910-277-5334

A native of Middleburg, FL, Mary Cross graduated from St. Andrews University in 2015. Since graduating, Cross has assisted in coaching the SAU softball team and has been the Resident Director the past three years in Wilmington Hall.

Mary took on the Director of Housing and Residence Life position in the Summer of 2019, overseeing the Resident Directors, Resident Assistants, and campus-wide housing and residence life.

During Mary’s free time, she enjoys hiking with her German Shepherd/Lab, Zeus, and relaxing by the pool
