Commemorating the loss of 500,000 citizens to COVID-19
Yesterday America broke a historic record. Yesterday marked the tragic milestone of more than 500,000 American lives lost to Covid-19. Our hearts are heavy with the knowledge that this is more than a number. These are loved ones- mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, parents, siblings, friends, and neighbors.
Pause for a moment of silence to remember, grieve, and rest in God’s comfort.
You are our ever-present help in times of trouble.
There is chaos around us and within us.
We mourn and weep for our loved ones.
We lift our cries to you with one voice.
We pray for those who have lost income, stability, and a path forward.
We pray for those in need of food and shelter.
We pray for those in need of healing.
We pray for those who feel isolated and disconnected.
We especially pray for the medical workers, police, and emergency personnel who respond without hesitation.
Comfort and strengthen us with your presence.
In your compassion, we find renewed life and healing.
When the time is right, turn our mourning into joy.
Transform this experience and show us your good ways.
In Christ’s name, we pray,
Our work is not done. Join the Knight community as we mask up and stand back. May our concern for one another be a beacon and witness of our care for those we know and those we will never meet. We’re in this together!
